Forum's image-rich interface enables users to quickly find and reserve the resources they need. The right images engage users and foster connectivity within your organization. Follow these image guidelines to facilitate a smooth Forum experience.
Home Page, Location & Asset Images (Banner Images)
Banner images are the first type of images users will encounter. These are home page, location and asset images displayed across the full width of the screen. They appear at the top of Forum in multiple views. Since banner images span the width of the browser window in the web platform, they must be high-resolution files.

You'll find banner images on the home page, each asset details page (the screen presented when you click on the name of an asset), and the location details page.
How Images are Cropped on the Forum Home Page
An organization may have up to 6 images on their home page, displayed at the top of the window. Separate text containing the organization’s name and/or slogan may appear over the center of the image. If the organization wants to include their logo in their home page images, the logo must fall within the area of the image that will not be cropped out. The top and bottom of the image will be cropped if the image is taller than the space. The sides of the image will be cropped if an image is wider than the space. If the resolution of an image is lower than the resolution of the monitor used to view it, the image may appear blurry or pixelated.
An image ratio from 16:9 to 21:9 will give you the best results. The dimensions listed below are those most commonly used and are here for reference. You may crop your images and they do not have to match any of the formats below. For resolution, a width of 2560 will look sharp on monitors 2560 wide and smaller. Lower resolutions are acceptable for display on smaller monitors. The formats shown in bold in the chart below the Example 1 image will yield the best results for home page images.

Best Practices for Banner Images
- An image ratio from 16:9 to 21:9 will give you the best results.
- Submit as PNG, JPG/JPEG or GIF file format.
- Color should be in RGB color mode (not CMYK color mode).
- Images should be in a horizontal (landscape) format rather than a vertical (portrait) format.
- Keep the most important part of the image in the center.
- Avoid excessive cropping, as the top and bottom will be automatically cropped for banner images and the sides may get cropped in the gallery view.
- You may send as many as six images.
- Home page images should reflect the ideology and aesthetics of your organization and will be uploaded by AgilQuest.
Depending on what type of camera you're using, you may need to increase its resolution before taking your photos. If you're uncertain, take a test photo, perform any necessary cropping and check its dimensions on your computer as follows. Once you're able to access the file, either hover over the file or right-click and choose Properties-> Details. The dimensions will be shown as width x height. An ideal width is 2560 pixels (also referred to as 5 megapixels), though smaller images will look fine on smaller monitors. If an image needs to be rotated, do this before you upload it to Forum. Simply right-click the file on your computer and choose “rotate right/left” or “rotate clockwise/counter-clockwise.” Banner images are cropped at the top and bottom, so keep the most important part of the image in the center. It’s better not to crop much before uploading because of different image views and variance in monitor sizes. Users can view all of an asset’s images in the asset details page by clicking the View Photos button (gallery view). This view is much narrower than the banner view, closer to a square shape, so the sides of wide images will be cropped out.
If your camera takes extremely high-resolution photos, you may want to lower the resolution to 5 or 6 megapixels so that large image files don't slow down the site. Forum supports the following image file types: PNG, JPG/JPEG and GIF. If you are saving images as JPEG (.jpg) files and have formatting options, it is better to save them as "progressive" rather than "baseline." Smaller (thumbnail) images are automatically created for each asset image uploaded to Forum
Asset Images in Settings
Images should be in a horizontal (landscape) format rather than a vertical (portrait) format.
As an administrator, you can always go into the settings for an asset and add or delete photos. In Forum, go to Settings -> Assets (shown above). Search for the desired asset, then click on the asset’s name.
Click the "Add Photo" button (shown above), browse your computer and select the desired photo. Repeat to add as many as six images. Designate one image as primary by clicking on the star above the image. Click on the trash can icon to remove an image. Be sure to click the "Save" button to generate the thumbnail version and complete the process.
Floor Plans
Forum integrates floor plan images within numerous views, empowering users with a bird’s eye view of availability and existing reservations. Many of the guidelines above also apply to floor plan images, however you may want even higher resolution because of the zoom feature within the floor plan view. Keep in mind that after floor plans are uploaded, you must add hotspots to indicate reservable spaces. Please note: if you decide to change the image afterward, and the dimensions of the new image are different from the original image, any previously created hotspots will need adjustment so that they line up properly.
Best Practices for Floor Plan Images
- Use one image per floor.*
- Image width should be at least 2560 pixels. Height is proportional.
- Save as PNG, JPG/JPEG or GIF.
- Color should be in RGB color mode (not CMYK color mode).
- Images should be in a horizontal (landscape) format rather than a vertical (portrait) format.
- Crop your image so that there is very little border/margin area.
- Makes sure that the file name extension is in lower case (ex: NY1stFl.png)
To upload floor plan images, go to Settings -> Locations -> Floors & Floor Plans. You’ll be able to specify the name of each floor and rearrange floors in the appropriate order. Assets should be added before you begin to create hotspots on floor plans.
When you’re ready to add hotspots, go to Settings -> Locations -> Floor Plans - Location of Assets (shown in above image). Then follow the on-screen directions.
*Some buildings have an expansive footprint containing clearly defined sections. In these cases, the organization may want to divide floors into areas within floors. AgilQuest will assist with this.
User Profile Images
All persons within Forum should have a user profile image. Photos make reservations more personal and engaging. Colleagues are then easier to identify and find.
Best Practices for Profile Images
- Square images work best.
- Ideal image size is 610 x 610 pixels.
- Save as PNG, JPG/JPEG or GIF.
- Color should be in RGB color mode (not CMYK color mode).
- Crop to include head and at least part of shoulders.
As an administrator, to add user profile images, go to Settings -> Users. Perform a search to see existing users. Click on a user name to manage their profile details.
Click the ‘Add Photo’ button to upload a new photo or the trash can icon to delete an existing photo. Be sure to click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom before leaving the user details screen.
A user’s ‘Role & Rights’ settings will determine whether or not they can change their own profile image. If ‘Manage Own User Profile’ is checked off (shown above at the upper right), that person can delete or upload their profile image by clicking on their name and selecting ‘My Profile.’
Mobile App Images
Home Screen Image
For the best quality, submit the image (one) you would like to use for your mobile app with high dimensions like 1920 x 1080 pixels. For landscape images, some part from the left and right side will be cropped in order to fit the screen so make sure that the subject of your focus is centered in the image as that's what will be displayed.
Asset, Location & Profile
The asset, location, profile, and floor plan images displayed in the mobile apps are the same as those shown in the web application. The background image on the app's home screen, which is visible after log in, can be changed to meet an organization's needs. This image should be 1280 pixels wide by 1464 pixels high. The background of the log in screen, where users enter their credentials, cannot be changed.
